30 Online Lighting Stores to Bookmark for Your Next Home Refresh

If you have ever walked into a lighting boutique only to find yourself overwhelmed and a little turned off, allow us to turn your attention to online lighting stores. As shopping editors, we completely understand that some things, like sleeper sofas and cooling mattresses, are easier to buy in person (so that you can test them before buying them), but lighting is not one of those products. You can buy your floor lamps, chandeliers, and the like online. We can promise that you’ll get a much better sense of what the fixture will look like in your space when it’s not hanging from the same ceiling as a ton of other options, which will be your in-person store experience.

Ahead, we rounded up 30 trustworthy spots that will light up your space in whatever home style suits your fancy. Whether you’re looking for an Art Deco sconce or a Louis XVI crystal chandelier, you’ll find it at one of the places on our list. Look at 1stDibs for vintage and antique pieces, McGee & Co. for affordable contemporary ones, and DWR for midcentury modern reproductions. Otherwise, you’ll discover plenty of worthy options below at any additional 27 retailers.

Shea McGee doesn't just design beautiful spaces across the country and collaborate with brands on cool products (See her partnership launches with Kohler and Loffler Randall). She actually has her own brand of furniture, decor, and lighting under the McGee & Co. name, which launched in 2016. Many of the pieces you may see on her digital storefront are reminiscent of the ones she incorporates into her design projects.

Arhaus's furniture boasts a wildly different look than some of its lighting: While the furniture is generally devoid of unnecessary ornamentation or hardware, its lighting takes a more ornate approach to detail. Case in point: this flush mount, which enlists hand-applied antiqued leaf designs across iron branches.

Amazon may not be the place you'd visit for heirloom pieces that will last a lifetime, but if you're looking for something affordable and simple, it's a safe bet. Plus, if you're on the fence, you can take a peek at the detailed reviews that often come with each piece's description.

Like Amazon, Wayfair has a massive selection, but unlike Amazon, Wayfair sells only home products, so you can rest assured that some will be a little more luxurious than others. The nice thing about Wayfair is that you'll get a vast range of styles and price points, so you can splurge on say, the chandelier in the entryway, and save on the table lamps. What's more, Wayfair is as famous for its top-tier customer service as it is for its impressively sized home collections, so if you have any issues with your purchase, the customer service definitely won't leave you hanging.

Pottery Barn's aesthetic leans more traditional, so if you enjoy glossy metallic finishes, classic shapes, and white linen shades, you're in for a treat with all of Pottery Barn's offerings. Plus, there are a lot of options, including chandeliers, flush mounts, table lamps, floor lamps, sconces, and more, so feel free to light your entire home with unique finds from Pottery Barn.

If you're new to Perigold, allow us to introduce you. Similar to Birch Lane and AllModern, Perigold is owned by Wayfair, but it doesn't pride itself on being an affordable brand. In fact, the founding mission behind Perigold's inception was to bring previously trade-only brands directly to consumers, so you'll find plenty of luxurious products that you can now shop sans an interior designer.

Frontgate is like the department store of home furnishings except there are no other brands. Rather, it's an online marketplace that sells literally everything you could need for your home, including very cool lighting. Full disclosure, the pieces are not cheap, but Frontgate always has a good sale going on.

When it comes to aesthetic, Article definitely skews midcenuty, but if you want something a little more contemporary, you'll have plenty of options. The great thing about Article's wares—whether furniture, decor, or lighting—is the price point. It's leans on the more affordable side of the price spectrum, which we'll never complain about.

Lulu and Georgia is a great place to buy home goods if you like muted neutrals, soft metallic finishes, and organic materials. You will be hard-pressed to shop around on Lulu and Georgia and not get something rattan in your cart. The price is also right: Almost every wall light is under $300.

If you have a thing for vintage, prepare to spend hours on end exploring 1stDibs, which is an online marketplace for the world's most beautiful and rare pieces. And when it comes to lighting, you really can't lose: From Murano glass chandeliers from the 1940s to 18th-century crystal pendants, there are thousands of products to choose from. Pro tip: If you're buying a vintage piece from a different country (take a look at the seller location), you may have to get it rewired before installing it in your home.

Etsy is like the Amazon of small businesses in that it carries thousands of brands (albeit small-batch ones) and every category you can think of, including food! We shopping editors, though, tend to focus on the home decor—the lighting, in particular.

Any interior designer can tell you how reliable and versatile Visual Comfort & Co. is. After all, it's been around since 1987, and sells more than 100 brands, including AERIN, Kelly Wearstler, and Ralph Lauren, to name a few. You'll find every style here.

Unlike some of the other spots on our list, Pooky sells only lighting (and some wall mirrors), so you can expect to find everything you'll need to keep your space lit, including the fixture or lamp, shade, and even bulbs.

Design Within Reach, otherwise known as DWR, is one of the best places to find iconic (we do not use that word lightly) furniture and lighting from the midcentury modern era. They're not vintage pieces, though; they're reproductions from the original designer or manufacturer, so you can rest assured that everything is authentic. Take, for example, the Arco floor lamp pictured. Originally designed by Achille Castiglioni for Flos in 1962. Sadly, Castiglioni passed away in 2002, but Flos very much still exists, which explains why the Arco is still in production. DWR carries hundreds of famed pieces like the Arco, including Louis Poulsen's PH5 pendant and the Atollo table lamp by Oluce.
